About the Role

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will play a critical role in helping us achieve this mission by providing expert analysis and guidance on risk management and pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain complex risk models to inform business decisions and optimize pricing strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Data Science, and Finance, to identify and mitigate risks
  • Design and implement data-driven solutions to improve pricing accuracy and reduce losses
  • Provide expert analysis and recommendations to senior leaders on risk management and pricing strategies
  • Develop and maintain documentation of key assumptions and methods to support risk controls
  • Assist in building and maintaining tools and dashboards used for loss development analysis and trend identification
  • Generate the reserving templates and provide support with the Actual vs Expected analysis
  • Collaborate with senior team members to enhance monthly performance metrics and modernize various reserving tools using scripting language
  • Contribute to the evaluation of reserving methodologies and work towards improving accuracy using conventional and new techniques
  • Support the financial reporting process by providing key actuarial inputs and analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Take ownership of the tasks assigned and drive insightful analysis
Requirements
  • Bachelor or equivalent degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or similar
  • At least 3 CAS exams is required
  • 1-2 years of relevant internships, or entry-level experience in P&C actuarial field (flexible scheduling during exam preparation and continuing education support for FCAS; we want to be part of your career development)
  • Experience or knowledge in reserving, pricing or modeling is a plus
  • Personal or commercial auto insurance experience required
  • Very Strong Excel; experience with SQL and R (or Python) and an interest in coding/automation is preferred
  • Great communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Balance attention to detail with fast-pace Lyft environment
  • Passionate about actuarial science and eager to learn and grow

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
