About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Optical Technician to join our team at Rockwood Optical. As an Optical Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our optical retail store.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with our optometrists and other healthcare professionals to provide top-notch patient care.
  • Maintain Prescription Records: Accurately record and maintain patient prescription information to ensure seamless communication with our healthcare team.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment: Regularly clean and maintain our optical equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Prepare and Maintain Equipment and Supplies: Prepare and maintain our optical equipment and supplies to ensure they are ready for use.
  • Process Claims: Process health insurance and workers' compensation claims in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain Supplies: Order and maintain an adequate supply of optical materials and equipment.
  • Maintain Inventory: Regularly check and maintain our inventory of optical equipment and supplies.
  • Perform General Clerical Duties: Assist with general administrative tasks, such as filing and data entry.
  • Process Files and Paperwork: Accurately process and maintain patient files and paperwork.
  • Schedule and Confirm Appointments: Schedule and confirm patient appointments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Take Patients' Medical and Ophthalmic History: Take patients' medical and ophthalmic history to ensure accurate and effective care.
  • Manage Routine Office Functions: Assist with managing routine office functions, including reception, telephone, and appointment scheduling.
  • Order Supplies and Equipment: Order optical supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Organize and Maintain Inventory: Regularly check and maintain our inventory of optical equipment and supplies.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in an optical retail store setting.
