The supervisor acts as the representative of the organization, regularly communicating performance expectations and operational updates to team members.
Key Responsibilities
As a Supervisor in Operations Relief, your main duties will include:
- Supervising daily mail delivery operations to guarantee safe and efficient sorting, routing, and delivery in compliance with established regulations and procedures.
- Overseeing the processing of various mail classes within a postal facility, setting daily priorities to meet deadlines and service commitments, and monitoring delivery exceptions.
- Implementing workplace safety and health initiatives, coaching employees on safe practices, and addressing health and safety concerns promptly.
- Providing leadership and guidance to team members, managing human resources processes such as staffing and performance evaluations, and resolving employee issues.
- Estimating workloads to ensure adequate staffing levels, recommending overtime as necessary, and managing staff assignments based on mail volume fluctuations.
- Evaluating operational methods and suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Conducting daily assessments of employee productivity, investigating performance issues, and sharing findings with the team.
- Maintaining administrative records related to mail volumes and employee attendance, and performing necessary administrative tasks.
- Fostering positive relationships with external stakeholders, including contractors and the public.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in team management or 2 years in a unionized environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
