Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate spiritual care assessments, interventions, and connections with community partners to support clients and their families.
  • Advocate for the spiritual and cultural needs of clients and their families, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
  • Develop and coordinate spiritual care educational seminars and activities to enhance community capacity and support individuals living with severe mental illness.
  • Lead recovery-oriented spirituality groups for clients and contribute to staff education on spiritual health practices and cultural specifics.
  • Maintain accurate client records and complete workload measurement and data collection as required.
  • Participate in program and Spiritual and Cultural Health service meetings, staff development, committees, and peer consultation.
  • Stay current with hospital policies, procedures, and applicable legislation, ensuring compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in divinity, religion, theology, or spiritual care.
  • Clinical pastoral education at the advanced level with eligibility for registration with the College of Psychotherapy and Mental Health Workers as a Spiritual Therapist.
  • Training, certification, and ongoing practice in a recognized spiritual/religious practice discipline relevant to the care of individuals living with severe mental illness.
  • Sensitivity and ability to advocate for the spiritual, religious, and cultural specifics of clients and their families.
  • Training in principles of bereavement support, loss, and crisis intervention, as well as adult education, group work, and community development.
  • Ability to foster compassionate, respectful, and recovery-oriented relationships, programs, and community.
  • Awareness of wisdom teachings and principles of culturally divergent care.
  • Ability to advocate and respect diversity of clients, staff, and community.
  • Awareness of principles of medical ethics or willingness to attain training.
  • Organizational and clerical abilities to coordinate community and peer volunteers.
  • Awareness of relevant legislation and commitment to principles of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Privacy (PHIPPA), and the Criminal Code of Canada (Mental Disorder Provisions).
  • Advanced crisis intervention skills.
  • Strong advocacy skills.
  • Client-centered and driven approach.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge and experience working with individuals living with mental illness and principles of a Recovery Culture.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with clients, families, caregivers, other professionals, volunteers, and the community.
  • Ability to work in an automated environment.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression/comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Salary Range

$43.39 to $55.26 per hour
