About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Visual Effects Artist II to join our team at Electronic Arts (EA) and contribute to the creation of stunning visual effects for The Sims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create stylized interpretations of real-world visual effects within the confines of engine memory and performance constraints
  • Collaborate with the VFX team, Direction, and other cross-discipline partners to achieve the project's aesthetic vision
  • Contribute to the design and technical implementation of VFX from brainstorming through testing and bug fixing
  • Assist with defining and setting priorities, contributing creative solutions to technical challenges, and inspiring others through knowledge sharing and documentation
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a VFX Artist contributing to all phases of production on a title
  • Experience creating advanced visual effects using particles, static and animated textures, lights, post processing, materials, meshes, and shaders
  • Experience developing visual language across an ecosystem of effects, and working with engine lighting, post effects, and physically based shading models
  • Experience with physics-based animation, impact interactions, destruction, and water
  • Experience creating 3D assets, materials, and hand-painted textures in other packages (e.g. Photoshop, After Effects)
Technical Requirements
  • Technical comprehension in relation to visual scripting environments such as Unreal Engine's Niagara & Blueprints, Unity's VFX Graph
  • Experience using GPU profiling tools such as PIX or GPAD
  • Working knowledge of creating shaders within a Unity or Unreal shader graph
What We Offer

Base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

Base salary ranges:

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): $89,300 - $123,000 CAN Annually

We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees.

Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
