About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Practical Nurse to join our Surgical Unit team at Markham Stouffville Hospital Corporation. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to surgical patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Conduct thorough physical assessments and document findings in patient records.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote safe and effective patient care.
Requirements
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated practice or completion of the Medication Administration certification.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Recent experience (within the last year) caring for inpatient surgical patients is required.
  • Excellent physical assessment skills are required.
  • Well-developed organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of professional development and continuing education is essential.
  • Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital-related policies, health and safety legislation, and best practices.
Work Schedule

The successful candidate will be available to work days (0730h-1930h), evenings (1130h-1930h), nights (1930h-0730h), and weekends. Schedules may change based on operational needs.

Compensation

BAND CU10: $35.97 per hour
