Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe Software Engineer with 4-6+ years of experience in development and maintenance within COBOL environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the following areas:

  • Proficient in creating batch processes utilizing JCL.
  • Ability to document Data Transformation protocols to enable Continuous Data Replication from IMS DB to SQL Server DB, specifically using Precisely's SQData CDC.
  • Experience in establishing Data Resiliency mechanisms to assess discrepancies between Source and Target Data Stores, facilitating corrections by the Operations team. This process should leverage IBM Infosphere DataStage.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience transitioning projects from COBOL to JAVA APIs.
  • At least 2 years of expertise in End-to-End Data Analysis and Validation processes.
  • Deliver prompt and high-quality support for incidents and operational reporting to Business Units and IT stakeholders.
  • Implement Business As Usual (BAU) modifications to accommodate operational needs, including ad-hoc or routine updates to application data and business logic.
  • Provide development and testing assistance for interfacing systems.
  • Conduct integration testing and Performance Integration Validation (PIV).
  • Develop, unit-test, and deploy new Mainframe DevOps pipelines as part of RBC's Engineering Transformation Program (desirable).
Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in the development and maintenance of large-scale Mainframe applications.
  • Proficient in Mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMSDB, CICS, Focus, File-Aid, Xpeditor, ISPF, and other relevant tools/utilities.
  • Familiarity with Source Code Management tools such as Endevor and GitHub.
  • Experience with DevOps practices including UCD, Jenkins, Sonarcube, and ZUNIT.
