Chef, Ethnic Foods Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at The Saffron House. As a Chef, Ethnic Foods Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods, as well as maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
Work Setting:The Saffron House is a restaurant that specializes in East Indian and vegetarian cuisine. We are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive work environment for all employees and customers.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
- Clean kitchen and work areas
- Manage kitchen operations
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- 1 year to less than 2 years of experience
- Attention to detail
- Fast-paced environment
- Handling heavy loads
- Physically demanding
- Repetitive tasks
- Standing for extended periods
- Work under pressure
- Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees
- Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees
- Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees
- Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster
- Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition
- Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees
- Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees
