Job Title: Indigenous Education Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Indigenous Education Teacher to join our team at School District #39 (Vancouver). As an Indigenous Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic and cultural success of Indigenous students.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and tracking Indigenous student success progress in relation to the goals of the Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement
  • Collaborating with School-Based teams and other enrolling, non-enrolling and support staff to analyze student needs and develop individual student learning plans
  • Providing targeted instructional support to Indigenous students in the classroom and in small group settings
  • Promoting and modeling the integration of Indigenous cultural and traditional knowledge into classroom curriculum and school settings
  • Sharing knowledge of Indigenous curriculum resources and professional development opportunities with colleagues
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Education
  • Experience in working with Indigenous students in a school and community setting
  • Extensive knowledge and successful implementation of Indigenous history and culture
  • Experience in elementary or secondary training
  • Membership in or eligible to become a member of the Teacher Regulation Board (TRB)
  • Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS)
