Job Summary

RBC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced technical data leader to drive the company's data transformation forward. As the Director of Data Engineering, you will be accountable for all RBC data products and services, creating new and innovative ways to leverage data across the organization to achieve operational excellence, client satisfaction, and digital innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of reusable high-quality data assets for RBC to support various consumption patterns.
  • Partner and lead RBC's data transformation to Lumina's Cloud Data Lake House platform, collaborating on target operating models across the business and IT.
  • Support the execution of initiatives that strengthen the technology foundation and enable the delivery of digital, analytics, and AI solutions.
  • Own the data product strategy, roadmap, and implementation, tracking and measuring user feedback and adoption.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand business objectives and technology requirements, recommending data solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to help business units become data-driven organizations.
  • Determine optimal data solutions based on project requirements, identifying new solutions or building on existing ones.
  • Accountable for build and deploy processes and practices to ensure data engineering meets and exceeds audit, RBC, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage multiple development teams and external vendors.
Requirements
  • 10 years' experience in data engineering and database technology with a focus on end-to-end medium/large project management.
  • Experience managing multiple project teams and building strong working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high-pressure, complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical components to business leaders and stakeholders.
  • Post-secondary education in computer science or a related field, with experience in SQL and Python programming.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to impact and influence.
  • Demonstrated collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.
