Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous Pharmacy Technician to contribute to our pharmacy operations. The Pharmacy Technician will be instrumental in assisting pharmacists with the preparation and distribution of medications, overseeing inventory, and ensuring exceptional service to our clients. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational abilities, a strong focus on precision, and the capability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute daily medication cart exchanges for hospitalized patients.
- Oversee the inventory management of Automated Dispensing Cabinets.
- Monitor expiration dates and ensure the proper disposal or return of outdated products in accordance with pharmacy standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Prepare packaged medications, including controlled substances.
- Ensure the availability of Emergency Medication trays.
- Keep track of stock levels, initiate procurement processes as needed, and comply with relevant regulations and agreements.
- Assess appropriate purchase quantities based on inventory management principles and available storage capacity.
- Receive and confirm shipments, manage back orders, and resolve any issues that arise.
- Conduct thorough medication histories with patients to aid in medication reconciliation.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician or Assistant Program is required.
- Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite, and pharmacy software such as PakEdge, Medi dose, and Meditech Expanse is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical handling procedures.
- Proficient in pharmaceutical calculations.
- Knowledge of computerized inventory management and control processes.
- Must have a satisfactory employment and attendance record.
