Provincial Executive Director, Correctional Health Services

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Provincial Executive Director to lead our Correctional Health Services team. As a key member of our Senior Executive Team, you will provide strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for our correctional health services and community transition teams.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the portfolio, ensuring alignment with our organization's strategic plan and Indigenous Action Plan.
- Provide oversight for contracted health services, including laboratory, medical imaging, dentistry, and other services, and liaise with stakeholders to develop and maintain effective knowledge exchange mechanisms.
- Lead and manage a large and diverse team, fostering an atmosphere that promotes employee growth and development, and addressing recruitment and retention priorities for the organization.
- Maintain a work culture that is safe for Indigenous Peoples, actively advancing the eradication of Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination within the workplace.
- Manage and ensure the effective and efficient utilization of the portfolio budget, approving the allocation of available space and/or equipment acquisition within the capital and operating budgets.
- Identify and evaluate new initiatives, business development, and partnership opportunities, communicating information and making recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer.
- Encourage, promote, and enhance education and research activities associated with both internal and external goals and objectives of our organization, and work alongside our Correctional Health Scientific Director to guide and lead best evidence into practice.
- A master's degree in a relevant discipline, with 10+ years of recent, related experience, including working within a large multi-site organization and developing, implementing, and evaluating operational and strategic plans.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including a clear understanding of and commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within corrections and mental health and substance use contexts, including the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan, and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study.
