Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for checking unverified laboratory results for accuracy, investigating unexpected abnormal and/or spurious results, and performing operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify laboratory results for accuracy and investigate unexpected abnormal and/or spurious results
  • Perform operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment
  • Monitor quality control results and respond appropriately to discordant results
  • Ensure specimen collection, integrity, transport, and storage is appropriate for sample processing and analysis
  • Refer discordant findings to appropriate personnel for further follow-up
  • Assist at bone marrow collections and process in-house and send-out test requests
  • Participate in the laboratory quality management system and process improvements

Requirements

  • Medical laboratory technologist with CSMLS certification
  • Current registration with CMLTO in good standing
  • Minimum two years recent chemistry experience in a hospital laboratory setting, or must demonstrate successful completion of all relevant education within the past two years
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high level of productivity, competence, and professionalism
  • Able to evaluate and analyze information to facilitate continuous improvement of the laboratory process in the interest of quality patient care
  • Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proven ability to be a team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Meditech, Paradigm, and Microsoft Office an asset

  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work ethic
  • May be required to travel between and work at all Osler sites

Additional Information

Hours: Currently Days/Evenings/Nights, 8 hour shifts including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

This Job is Fully Onsite: Roles involved in direct patient care that are needed onsite for each shift.
