The Wek'èezhìı Renewable Resources Board is dedicated to the stewardship of wildlife, flora, and forest ecosystems.
The Board is currently in search of a full-time Conservation Scientist to become a vital part of their team for a specified term.In this role, reporting to the Executive Director, the Conservation Scientist will be responsible for conducting scientific research, monitoring, and providing management recommendations on species at risk, vegetation, forests, and conservation areas.
This position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends, as well as frequent travel to various communities. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences or a related discipline is required.Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of experience in renewable resource research and monitoring, along with skills in administration and project management. Experience working with northern communities and in cross-cultural environments is highly valued. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, particularly in conducting technical evaluations and data analysis, utilizing robust scientific methodologies, and incorporating traditional knowledge approaches.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training and experience in renewable resource management.
- Proficiency in the Tlicho language.
