Opportunity Overview

Aecon, a market leader in infrastructure and transportation networks, is seeking a highly skilled Senior GIS Specialist to join its IDD department in Toronto. This role will focus on fostering GIS innovation within the company, working closely with the IDD Manager, Geospatial Data Management, and collaborating with all IDD staff and Aecon colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement 3D geospatial/BIM solutions for regulatory and permitting elements of Canadian and international infrastructure and transportation planning projects.
  • Create basic FME scripts to automate workflows in FME desktop/server.
  • Develop 3D maps, databases, and other deliverables for ongoing bid/execution projects on short notice.
  • Mentor and train junior GIS Staff, promoting a culture of support and collaboration.
  • Conduct large, advanced spatial analyses and develop vector and raster spatial analysis models using Spatial ModelBuilder, Python, or other GIS scripting languages.
  • Develop and support web GIS applications using Esri Web App Builder, Operations Dashboards, Story Maps, Collector, Survey 123 within ArcGIS Enterprise platform.
  • Create maps, databases, and other deliverables on short notice.
  • Perform site travel (20% of the time) within Ontario (mostly GTA).
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or related discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience working with Esri GIS applications (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, etc).
  • High data organization standards, performing rigorous quality control/quality assurance practices for all GIS data created.
  • Advance knowledge of ESRI tools, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Knowledge of Python, Arcade, JavaScript, FME, SQL, HTML, and Esri Model Builder (an asset but not required).
  • Experience with Autodesk software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience creating analytical reports.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
