Position Overview

Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects that are faster, smarter, and safer. As a GIS Solutions Specialist, you will play a key role in creating and maintaining GIS products and solutions within the Utilities business unit.

This is a full-time opportunity that requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze current business processes to identify opportunities for spatial tool utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with GIS analysts and other team members to understand project requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Present solutions and provide training to operations teams.
  • Create process documentation, including flowcharts and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify improvement opportunities; develop and present recommendations to management and monitor their implementation.
  • Develop and maintain GIS applications and tools using programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and Arcade.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to adhere to project schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Microsoft Office proficient – with strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills.
  • Experience with ESRI's operational applications – Workforce, Survey123, Field Maps, and Experience Builder, Dashboards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the confidence and ability to work with all levels of staff and management within a large organization.
