Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Chef, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Consistently delivering professional, friendly, and proactive service while supporting fellow team members
- Adhering to departmental policies, procedures, and service standards
- Overseeing the preparation and presentation of all food items for a la carte and buffet menus in accordance with hotel recipes and standards
- Leading a team to achieve the highest quality in food preparation and presentation
- Ensuring proper rotation of products in all storage areas to minimize waste and spoilage
- Fostering a work environment that encourages creativity, continuous improvement, and constructive feedback
- Identifying opportunities to enhance food revenue and reduce kitchen expenses while maximizing departmental productivity without compromising guest satisfaction
- Assigning daily tasks to team members
- Ensuring accuracy in storeroom requisitions
- Coordinating functions for timely setup and delivery
- Providing prompt and efficient service to guests and responding swiftly to all requests
- Addressing guest allergy concerns with the utmost care and attention
- Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, daily specials, and promotions
- Ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Complying with safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of diverse experience in a 4 or 5-star hotel or reputable restaurant
- Required competencies include a 6 to 8-month leadership role in a staff café, menu development, product maintenance, and positive internal guest feedback
- Valid Journeyperson's papers or equivalent certification
- Diploma or certification from a culinary program
- Successful completion of Alberta's Food Handler Certification
- Supervisory experience is an asset
- Certificate of completion for an intermediate-level foodservice handling course
- Valid Alberta driver's license
- Excellent knife skills and safe food handling practices
- Energetic individual eager to meet the challenges of a large and versatile resort
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues with minimal supervision
- Focus on guest needs while maintaining a calm and courteous demeanor
Work Environment:
- Sitting - 1-2 hours/day
- Walking - 6-8 hours/day
- Standing - 6-8 hours/day
- Bending/Reaching - 1-3 hours/day
- Pushing/Pulling - 1-3 hours/day
- Physical Effort - may lift weights up to 50 lbs
- Environmental Stress - High; primarily indoor work, with some outdoor tasks
