Position Overview:

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the hospital environment. Your duties will include:

  • Conducting regular security patrols and responding to incidents in a timely manner.
  • Exhibiting exceptional customer service skills while assisting individuals in distress or requiring medical support.
  • Maintaining physical fitness to perform duties that require prolonged standing and walking.
  • Executing a range of preventative and responsive tasks, including thorough patrols of both the interior and exterior of the facility.
  • Implementing Use of Force/Restraint protocols as mandated under applicable legislation.
  • Providing escort services for staff and visitors upon request.
  • Offering motor vehicle assistance to staff and visitors as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate logs and documentation of all activities and service calls during your shift.
  • Preparing detailed reports following investigations or notable incidents promptly.
  • Conducting investigations and follow-ups on incidents, including report writing and reviewing CCTV footage.
  • Addressing rule violations and, when necessary, apprehending or removing individuals from the premises.
  • Managing various office responsibilities, such as ID badge issuance, key distribution, and lost and found services.

  • Delivering courteous and cooperative service with a focus on high-quality customer interactions.
  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse populations.
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with clinical staff and the public, maintaining authority and professionalism.
  • Exhibiting composure in high-pressure situations and unusual circumstances.
  • Producing clear, concise, and legible reports.
  • Reporting any concerns or issues to the Site Coordinator.
Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Educational background in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, including the Trespass to Property Act, Mental Health Act of Ontario, and Criminal Code - Section 494.
  • Proof of double Covid Vaccination.
  • Immunization Record for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Police Foundations Diploma or equivalent experience in law enforcement.
Certification Requirements:

  • Immunization Record.
  • COVID Double Vaccinated.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.
  • Valid Ontario Security License.
