About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Analog Design Engineer to join our team at Lightmatter. As a key member of our analog team, you will be responsible for architecting and designing high-speed analog circuits for our cutting-edge photonic computers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Micro-Architecture Development: Collaborate with chip architects to conduct feasibility studies and ensure that our analog designs meet the required specifications.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering Teams: Work closely with our system, digital, analog, and photonics design engineering teams to define electrical requirements and ensure seamless integration of our analog designs.
  • Design Analog/Mixed-Signal Blocks: Design and develop high-speed analog/mixed-signal blocks, including transceivers (TIA, TX Driver) and broadband circuits, with a focus on interfacing with silicon photonics elements.
  • Document Design Simulations and Verifications: Document and verify design simulations to ensure that our analog designs meet the required specifications and are ready for formal design reviews.
  • Drive Block-Level Floorplan and Mask Design: Drive the development of block-level floorplans and mask designs, and ensure that they meet the required specifications.
  • Run Post-Layout and Mixed-Signal Top-Level Simulations: Run post-layout and mixed-signal top-level simulations to validate the integration of our analog designs.
  • Define Production and Bench-Level Test Plans: Develop and define production and bench-level test plans to ensure that our analog designs meet the required specifications.
  • Validate Performances of the Circuits: Validate the performances of the circuits in the lab to ensure that they meet the required specifications.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: MS with 3+ years of industry experience, or Ph.D. with 5+ years of industry experience, with a focus on optical or wireline transceiver design.
  • Design Experience: Experience designing Analog-Front-End blocks, such as trans-impedance amplifiers (TIA) and Tx Driver.
  • Equalization Techniques and Circuits: Experience with Tx/Rx equalization techniques and circuits.
  • Testing and Validation: Experience with testing and validating high-speed analog/mixed-signal circuits.
  • CMOS Device Characteristics: Solid understanding of CMOS device characteristics, noise, mismatch, linearity, and design trade-offs.
  • Cadence Design Environment: Experience with Cadence Design Environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3D Electro-Magnetic Simulation Tools: Knowledge of 3D Electro-Magnetic (EM) simulation tools.
  • Silicon Photonic Mach-Zehnder Modulators: Experience interfacing with silicon photonic Mach-Zehnder modulators.
  • Analog/Mixed-Signal IPs: Successful track record in delivering analog/mixed-signal IPs with 1st-time success while meeting tight schedules.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with people across multiple functional areas.
