We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Software Development Director to lead our On-Board Payload Software team at Telesat. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of software developers and testers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Develop and present project status reports to stakeholders, highlighting accomplishments, challenges, and risks.
  • Drive automation initiatives and champion quality assurance practices to enhance product reliability.
  • Organize team-building events, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster team cohesion and professional growth.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members, ensuring best practices are followed and technical challenges are effectively addressed.
  • Uphold and promote Telesat's culture, values, and standards within the team, creating an inclusive and positive working environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in a software development environment with an embedded software focus.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of building and managing successful software development teams.
  • Collaborative team-player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams, and partners/suppliers.
  • Experience in dealing with business considerations and practical limitations related to system design and implementation.
  • Aptitude for complex technology and strong belief in developing carrier-grade quality.
  • Extensive experience working in an Agile development environment and telecommunications and networking devices.
  • Knowledge of satellite components such as modems, RF, electronics, and antenna technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
