Job Description

Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Elementary Education Specialist to join our team at York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching in a primary classroom setting, with a focus on early learning pedagogy.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and community members

  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in education and incorporate new ideas into the classroom
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent
  • Experience teaching in a primary classroom setting
  • Understanding of and experience with early learning pedagogy
  • Experience teaching in a multi-grade class setting
  • Experience integrating self-regulation and social-emotional care practices in the classroom
  • Experience working with Indigenous learners in a culturally diverse community

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Eagerness to learn about and integrate Liard First Nation culture and worldview into the classroom
  • Ability to work collaboratively with community members, including the Liard First Nation government and Daylu Dena Council Educational Support Workers

  • Ability to develop, support, and implement Student Learning Plans, Behaviour Plans, Safety Plans, and Individual Education Plans
