About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Health, Safety, and Environment Student to join our team in Edmonton, AB. As a key member of our Canadian Industrial Division, you will contribute to our team by assisting HSE professionals with inspections and incidental investigations, managing documents, developing training materials, and reviewing paperwork.

Responsibilities
  • Assist HSE professionals with inspections and incidental investigations to ensure compliance with PCL and local legislative requirements.
  • Manage documents, including data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing, and other administrative tasks.
  • Develop training materials and other documents to support the health and safety program.
  • Review paperwork, including PTSP, tailgate meetings, safework procedures, trend analysis, and other safety-related documents.
  • Monitor and maintain the environmental program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Recognize and follow PCL and local legislative requirements to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Analyze site-specific trends and incidents and report findings to the district.
  • Gather, review, and distribute safety-related statistical information to support decision-making.
  • Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to the project team.
Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate program. Preference will be given to those in a Statistics, Occupational Health and Safety, and/or Psychology program.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.
  • Strong willingness to learn and contribute to the team's success.
