ROLE OVERVIEW
The Head of Product Innovation is a pivotal position dedicated to enhancing our apparel offerings. This role involves steering multidisciplinary teams, supervising the sampling workflow, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring the efficient execution of manufacturing orders. In addition to product innovation, this leader acts as the primary contact for all development and pre-production issues, significantly contributing to sales initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- ENHANCING CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION:
- Oversee and manage a detailed schedule of events, both internal and external, to ensure effective coordination and timely delivery for apparel product innovation.
- Evaluate design presentations for implementation and cost factors, emphasizing garment aesthetics and functionality.
- Facilitate and communicate all internal and external modifications regarding colors and fits, ensuring compliance with industry standards and fashion trends.
- SUPPLIER ENGAGEMENT:
- Work closely with sourcing teams on factory assignments, design implementation, and vendor management to optimize cost, quality, and delivery efficiency in apparel production.
- Relay initial cost estimates from sourcing to sales and provide projected lead times for apparel products, taking into account material availability and production schedules.
- SAMPLING AND PRE-PRODUCTION OVERSIGHT:
- Direct the initiation and management of the sampling process, focusing on garment fit and fabric integrity.
- Oversee sample approvals for licensed apparel and buyer samples.
- Ensure the prompt production of TOP (Top of Production) samples for apparel items and effectively manage the entire process.
- Maintain accurate technical packages throughout the product lifecycle, including approvals for artwork and sizing.
- REVISION MANAGEMENT:
- Establish and nurture strong cross-functional relationships with internal and external teams regarding timelines, changes, and timely delivery.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Over 15 years of experience in sourcing or production management within the fashion sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of products, fabrics, fits, washes, patterns, suppliers, and factories both domestically and internationally.
- Proficient in critical path management, costing, manufacturing processes, and calendar oversight.
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on finding practical solutions that benefit all parties.
- Highly organized professional with exceptional planning abilities and the capacity to prioritize effectively while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of building trustworthy and lasting relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
- Capacity to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
- Self-motivated with a keen focus on deadlines and reporting.
- Willingness to travel for supplier visits as necessary.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are advantageous.
