Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial services, with experience in cloud-based financial accounting systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full cycle accounting services utilizing cloud applications such as QBO or Xero;
- Assist with completion of payroll functions;
- Prepare basic T4 returns;
- Prepare month-end close procedures including reconciliation of bank accounts and credit cards and ensuring transactions are properly journalized;
- Assist with government filings such as sales tax returns and payroll filings;
- Prepare monthly and/or quarterly financial reports and management reports;
- Collaborate with clients on a regular basis and assist them with day-to-day accounting inquiries;
- Communicate issues to manager and collaborate on resolutions.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a professional services setting;
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, enrolment in the CPA program an asset;
- 1-2 years' experience in the use of relevant computerized and cloud-based financial accounting systems;
- Intermediate to high level proficiency with MS Excel, Xero, and QuickBooks Online;
- Knowledge and understanding of ASPE;
- Knowledge and understanding of HST rules;
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
