Plant Manager

Job Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production at a manufacturing site. This includes establishing and maintaining business objectives, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and developing and leading a competent and engaged team.
Responsibilities
- Ensure excellence through the 5 plant fundamentals of safety, housekeeping, preventive maintenance, productivity, and quality.
- Provide good customer service and responsiveness.
- Plan and produce required product on a daily basis.
- Ensure the business meets expected financial returns, company, and site goals.
- Drive a site culture focused on excellence across all functions and personnel roles.
- Share best practices across sites and leverage learning from other sites.
- Ensure BOMs are correct and product is manufactured within BOM cost and quality commitments.
- Spent at least 80% of time on floor, interacting with plant teams and leadership.
- Ensure internal control guidelines are followed by site.
- Assist with preparation of annual production budget and capital project requests.
- Use key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress.
- Ensure all OPS initiatives are implemented at site.
- Hold self and employees accountable for creating and implementing best practices.
- Direct and monitor the work of direct reports.
- Appraise employee performance and recommend appropriate actions.
- Direct development of training programs to promote employee engagement.
- Leverage standardized skills matrices and customized job interviews by role.
- Set expectations with employees on good customer service and responsiveness.
- Ensure top quality products that meet on time delivery expectations.
- Responsible for developing technical knowledge by learning from employees.
Safety
- Take leadership role in all investigations involving first aid or greater injury severity and property damage incidents.
- Ensure any reported hazards are immediately mitigated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Attend and support monthly safety training.
Productivity
- Ensure production plans and schedules are in place and team is executing to them.
- Drive labor best practices, managing on-time starts and employee overtime.
- Conduct daily shift huddles and utilize huddle boards.
- Ensure site leaders are leveraging shift huddle data to manage downtime and working with maintenance lead to manage PM schedules.
- Lead weekly site performance reviews with both production and maintenance leads.
- Lead monthly downtime workshops, utilizing OPS dashboards and tools.
- Report site performance using KPIs and OPS dashboards in a monthly performance review with business leaders.
Quality
- Direct implementation of a best-in-class quality program to ensure consistent, top-quality products with minimal junk.
- Ensure products meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Ensure products meet and exceed company set specifications and that product remains within BOM cost commitments.
Position Knowledge
- Previous knowledge of production equipment is a desirable asset.
- Basic knowledge of wet cast/dry cast and precast concrete production processes.
- Good Mechanical and Electrical skills.
- Excellent leadership and team building skills.
- Proficient use of basic computer software such as Microsoft Office Products, Internet, Email.
