Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Youth Counsellor to join our team at BGC South Coast BC. As a key member of our Odyssey II program, you will provide critical support and guidance to youth and families affected by substance use and other challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Program Delivery
  • Develop and implement individualized counselling plans to support youth in achieving their goals.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and support to youth in crisis situations.
  • Facilitate support groups and other program activities to promote youth well-being.
Case Management
  • Assess and document youth and family needs, developing comprehensive case plans to address these needs.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and community agencies to ensure seamless service delivery.
Community Outreach
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance program services and resources.
  • Provide outreach services to youth and families in the community, promoting access to BGC South Coast BC programs and services.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of youth and family interactions, programme activities, and outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required, ensuring timely and accurate data collection and analysis.
Requirements
  1. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, counselling).
  • Minimum one year of experience working with youth and families in a community-based setting.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development, substance use, and related issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications and Training
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
