Program Manager – Assembly Engineering

The Assembly Engineering Program Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing designated tasks or projects, serving as a primary liaison to ensure a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements and project scope.

This position involves collaboration with suppliers and various internal teams to guarantee that projects are executed efficiently, adhering to budget constraints while striving to surpass customer expectations.

Additionally, this role provides mentorship and support to fellow engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide new product development from initial concept through to production.
  • Monitor all project components to ensure compliance with budgetary and timeline commitments, effectively communicating any changes in project status to relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify sources for capital equipment.
  • Oversee the approval process for equipment purchases.
  • Lead the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) team and associated activities.
  • Direct the specification, sourcing, and development of technical components and suppliers.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives informed by both internal and external performance metrics.
  • Specify any necessary special tools and fixtures.
  • Estimate operational cycle times for each process step.
  • Prepare and submit quotations.
  • Maintain control over customer drawings and their revisions.
  • Ensure processes are capable of producing components that meet specifications.
  • Modify processes and update all pertinent documentation as needed.
  • Keep accurate records and relay information to other departments.
  • Assess the capacity of existing building systems to meet the increasing demands of plant operations.
  • Develop production schedules to monitor project progress.
  • Establish, review, and authorize departmental annual budgets.
  • Analyze budget cost categories to identify opportunities for waste reduction.
  • Direct and coordinate project teams in the design, development, and manufacturing of products.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatics/Hydraulics, Assembly Concepts/Tooling/Fixturing within the Automotive sector is advantageous for this role.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Completion of a Program Management course or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in an Assembly or Manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in writing technical proposals.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite including Project, AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and computer-aided design tools.
