Position Overview:

The Child Protection Worker is accountable to the Children Services Supervisor. The primary goal is to investigate all allegations of child maltreatment and neglect to assess the necessity for intervention services aimed at family preservation.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as an Officer under the Child & Family Services Act for the Province of Saskatchewan. Evaluate the existence of risk factors affecting children and families in accordance with the Ministry of Social Services' Structured Decision-Making framework. Complete all case plans, documentation, and legal agreements in line with the Family Centered Case Management Manual. Provide intervention services and develop problem-solving strategies to mitigate identified risk factors. Actively engage with Prevention Services in family group conferencing, case conferences, and case planning. Refer families to suitable agencies for specific needs such as counseling, addiction treatment, and child assessments. Prepare necessary documentation for and attend Family Services Court as required. Ensure that all files and documentation are current and accurate. Execute the apprehension of children when deemed necessary. Conduct informational sessions regarding ICFS to the community as directed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work (BISW). Ability to provide a recent and satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Record Check, and Driver's Abstract Clearance. Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
