Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at CB Canada. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for providing leadership in process improvements, as well as various internal accounting projects. You will work closely with our accounting team to analyze accounts, prepare journal entries, and perform designated account reconciliations. You will also be responsible for critically reviewing processes to identify areas for improvement and ensuring a strong internal control environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze accounts and post journal entries to the system;
  • Prepare various account reconciliations on a monthly basis;
  • Perform designated account reconciliations, ad-hoc analyses and related follow-up activities;
  • Work alongside A/R, A/P and audit teams in order to reconcile various activities to ensure entries are posted in a timely manner for accurate month end certification and reporting;
  • Critically review processes in order to identify any process improvements and to ensure a strong internal control environment;
  • Liaise with various departments as required to initiate process improvements, as well as investigate and resolve issues;
  • Prepare journal entries;
  • Assist in monthly and quarterly financial close, and provide explanations on the major variances of the balance sheet and income statement prior to close;
  • Join the month end closing process;
  • Working with external auditors during the audit process;
  • Work on ensuring various projects are completed on time. This includes implementation of systems across North America.
  • Ensure all functions are completed timely, accurately and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance and Accounting related discipline;
  • CPA designation (in progress) is an asset;
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in accounting;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English;
  • Ability to take initiative and work in high energy environment;
  • Excellent organization skills along with the ability to manage deadlines;
  • Experience in financial system is considered an asset;
  • Very strong skills in Microsoft Excel in necessary;
  • Supervisory experience is considered an asset.
