Position: Desktop Systems Specialist at Industrial Light & Magic

Founded in 1975 by George Lucas, Industrial Light & Magic has been a pioneer in creating some of the most memorable moments in cinematic history. From iconic franchises like Star Wars to groundbreaking films such as Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean, ILM is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.

This position is classified as Hybrid, requiring the employee to work at a designated location while also having the flexibility to work from home on occasion. The Desktop Systems Specialist will be responsible for IT operations and project support for the ILM Vancouver studio.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and troubleshoot issues, providing guidance to team members.
  • Ensure that the production environment is effectively supported and meets project timelines.
  • Manage inventory, assets, and resources within the studio.
  • Develop and refine processes for the selection of new hardware and software.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with external vendors.
  • Engage in projects aimed at enhancing studio infrastructure.
  • Implement scripting and automation solutions using bash or python.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Linux, Windows, and macOS operating systems.
  • Experience supporting both virtual and physical workstations.
  • Strong interest in technology, especially in GPU advancements.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Background in visual effects or gaming industries is advantageous.
  • Thorough knowledge of hardware and software maintenance practices.

The salary range for this role in Vancouver is C$64,700 to C$82,800 annually. Comprehensive medical, financial, and benefits packages may be available based on the position level.
