Lightspeed is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to join our commercial legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proven track record of success in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the leadership of the commercial legal team and manage a portion of the team.
- Play a key role in the leadership team of a growing legal department.
- Implement systems and processes to enhance the scalability and efficiency of the Company's commercial legal function.
- Provide support on complex, cross-functional projects and engage in ad hoc analysis for various stakeholder groups.
- Develop, draft, revise, administer, implement, and interpret compliance policies, procedures, and programs.
- Use sound legal and business judgment to make recommendations and solve legal and business problems, often within tight deadlines.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and government authorities as required.
- Engage and empower colleagues and stakeholder groups through training and thought leadership.
- 5+ years of experience in a law firm and/or as in-house counsel, preferably with a software-as-a-service business.
- Extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating all types of contracts, especially technology contracts.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing legal teams.
- Creative problem-solving and an innovative approach to in-house law department management.
- Broad commercial and corporate transactional experience gained in a fast-paced, preferably international, environment.
- Professional-level proficiency in English, including legal writing.
- Experience working in an international environment, across different jurisdictions and languages.
