About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Supervisor to join our team at JMK Mahal Restaurant Ltd. As a key member of our culinary operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our kitchen staff and ensuring that our high standards of quality and service are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision
    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including food preparation, portioning, and presentation.
    • Train staff in job duties, sanitation, and safety procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
    • Establish methods to meet work schedules and ensure that food and service meet quality control standards.
  • Inventory and Supply Management
    • Requisition food and kitchen supplies, and maintain records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage.
    • Estimate ingredient and supplies required for meal preparation and prepare food order summaries for the chef.
  • Customer Service and Quality Control
    • Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards and address customers' complaints or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Supervise and check assembly of trays and delivery of food trolleys to ensure that food is presented in a visually appealing manner.
  • Financial Management
    • Prepare budget and cost estimates for food and supplies, and monitor expenses to ensure that they are within budget.
  • Team Management
    • Supervise and manage a team of 5-10 staff members, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Requirements
  • Education
    • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience
    • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a food service or culinary operations role.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, customers, and vendors.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with tight deadlines and high pressure.
    • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, walk, and lift heavy objects.
    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
