Your Role
Reporting to the Energy Business Line Sector Leader, the Power Delivery Sector Leader is responsible for driving growth and opportunity development across North America's Power Delivery Sector. This role requires collaboration with Energy Sector Leaders, Regional Business Leaders, and other stakeholders to identify and cultivate project opportunities while formulating effective strategies based on a comprehensive understanding of the power delivery landscape, client requirements, and competitive dynamics.
As the sector expert, you will guide our business centers in building teams that deliver results and support anticipated growth. You will also network with other Stantec business lines to stay informed about the overall market position related to the Power Delivery sector and work collaboratively to develop business plans that meet annual sales and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishing the vision and priorities for our North American power delivery teams, documented through a detailed annual business plan that outlines key clients, revenue goals, marketing strategies, and performance indicators.
- Identifying key clients with potential for significant growth within the power delivery sector, including electric utilities and energy companies, and driving account management excellence.
- Building and nurturing relationships with key subcontractors and construction partners to ensure sustained growth in the market.
- Recognizing market trends and necessary service offerings to support ongoing growth in the power delivery sector.
- Collaborating with regional business centers and project teams to achieve defined operational performance metrics.
- Engaging in business pursuits that align with the power delivery business plan, including proposal development and commercial interviews.
- Facilitating partnerships among business developers and functional teams.
- Participating in marketing and business development initiatives to drive sector-wide pursuits.
- Maintaining up-to-date business reports and fostering a culture of timely updates on project statuses.
- Developing and managing sector marketing and business development plans in collaboration with leadership.
- Building and maintaining industry relationships with clients, sub-consultants, and potential recruits.
- Conducting client surveys to gather feedback and develop action plans for improvement.
- Attending industry conferences and maintaining active memberships in relevant associations.
- Supporting recruitment efforts to strengthen the sector team.
People Management
- Coaching and mentoring a team of professionals dedicated to expanding our Energy business.
- Supporting annual reviews of staff contributing to sector pursuits.
- Facilitating the development of sector succession plans.
Qualifications
Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven leadership skills to engage and motivate teams.
- Experience in project delivery with a diverse client base.
- Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering services related to power projects.
- Background in business development and proposal preparation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong industry network.
- Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Education and Experience
A minimum of 20 years of experience in managing engineering design and construction services within the Power Delivery Sector, with a strong background in transmission and distribution lines, substations, and related areas. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required, and a Professional Engineer license is preferred.
