Job Title: Human Resources Officer, Staffing

Job Summary:

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Officer, Staffing to join our team. This role will provide critical support to all levels of management, including consultation and advice on staffing issues, collective agreements, employment legislation, and Board policies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide resources and support to management on staffing matters, including interpretation of collective agreements and employment legislation.
  • Coordinate the hiring process for teaching and non-teaching staff, including posting and advertising vacancies.
  • Authorize salary changes, transfers, leaves of absence, resignations, retirements, and new hires.
  • Coordinate the application process, including screening resumes and coordinating interviews.
  • Prepare and send offers of employment for new employees and monitor the completion of conditions of employment.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external sources regarding employment opportunities.
  • Support Principals and School Superintendents with sourcing and selecting qualified teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or certificate in Human Resource Management or equivalent education.
  • One to three years of related experience working in a progressive Human Resources environment, preferably in the public sector.
  • Human Resources Management Designation (CHRP) is considered an asset.

Specialized Skills:

  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in the administration and interpretation of collective agreements.
  • Advanced level skills and experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and HRIS information systems.
