Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Software Quality to join our team. As a key member of our global engineering organization, you will be responsible for leading our software quality assurance engineering team and certification team. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that our software products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance strategy that aligns with the company's objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of QA professionals, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to continuously evolve the QA processes.
- Oversee all aspects of QA including test planning, execution, and reporting.
- Ensure rigorous testing of software products to identify and resolve defects early in the development cycle.
- Implement and maintain QA metrics to monitor and improve the quality of software products.
- Champion Agile practices within the QA team and across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including development, product management, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of QA processes in the Agile workflow.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
- Identify areas for improvement within the QA processes and implement effective solutions.
- Drive initiatives to automate testing processes, increase test coverage, and reduce cycle times.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is an asset.
- 10+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive experience with Agile methodologies.
- Proven track record of successfully leading QA teams in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, testing methodologies, and QA best practices.
- Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
- Certification in Agile (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Intrusion Security System environments including its regulation is an asset.
- Knowledgeable in regulatory standards and its processes for certification such as; Wi-Fi, Zwave, Zigbee, Cellular, UL/ULc is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of analog and digital hardware, microcontrollers, microprocessors and DSP processors. Product knowledge relating to security system is an asset.
- Proven transformational leadership skills, with expertise in creating a design for quality culture.
- Work in a collaborative and persuasive manner across all functions to create a design for quality mindset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a highly complex environment.
- Self-motivated, driven personality to institute change.
- Strong business acumen, coaching and mentoring skills.
