Job Description

Job Overview
This role is responsible for ensuring a safe, dependable, and economically efficient fleet of vehicles, including ground support machinery and on-road vehicles. The individual in this position will oversee the appropriate utilization and maintenance of physical assets, mitigate equipment malfunctions, manage expenditures, cultivate relationships with external service providers, collaborate closely with automotive technicians and internal stakeholders, and conduct routine inspections of equipment and facilities. This role also involves monitoring the maintenance of fleet vehicle equipment. The supervisor will enhance automotive cost efficiency by recognizing patterns, tracking essential expense metrics, and implementing strategies for cost reduction. Additionally, this position supervises the mechanics within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organizes preventative maintenance checks and evaluates the outcomes, supervises repairs, and conducts vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and aesthetic standards.
  • Investigates equipment or vehicle system breakdowns to identify root causes and rectify issues, coordinating repair efforts with both internal and external teams.
  • Maintains sufficient inventory levels (e.g., parts, tires, etc.) to support operational needs.
  • Follows purchasing limits, expense approval protocols, and equipment disposal policies to adhere to budgetary constraints.
  • Reviews and authorizes automotive expenditures.
  • Assesses employee training requirements to develop ongoing training plans.
  • Conducts performance assessments and addresses individual and team performance challenges.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficient understanding of mechanical principles, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair related to vehicle or aircraft fleet operations.
  • Capability to oversee equipment repairs and manage the resolution of issues with tools, machinery, and other standard technical apparatus.
  • Competence in managing inspections, physical assets, and fostering relationships with vendors.
