Position Overview:

Kent PLC is seeking a skilled Electronics/RF Field Service Technician to support our operations.

Work Schedule: 4-10 schedule (10 hours - Tuesday to Friday, Monday to Thursday rotation)

Local Conditions: Candidates must be local; no camp accommodations are available.

Key Responsibilities:

This role focuses on telecommunications service within a mining context. You will collaborate with a team responsible for maintaining telecom systems on a fleet of heavy mining and support machinery. Your work will span various locations, including support shops and extraction areas.

Your duties will encompass preventative, reactive, and emergency maintenance tasks.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Electronics diploma or trade certification in a relevant field
  • Proficiency in programming wireless communication devices
  • Experience with tire-monitoring and distraction driving systems
  • Familiarity with Mine Dispatch systems
  • Hands-on experience with Cambium & Cisco products
  • Knowledge of mesh networking technologies
  • Experience with two-way radio systems, preferably Motorola
  • Background in solar and wind-powered systems
  • Astro P25 certification
  • Ability to interpret system schematics and make necessary adjustments

Essential Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Leadership skills to coordinate tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with clients and understand their requirements
  • Management of radio shop operations, including database updates
  • Solid understanding of DC power systems (12v/24v/48v)
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills with adaptability to field changes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IP networking, RF, microwave technologies, and dispatch systems
  • Proficient in various software applications, including Putty, Telnet, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to fabricate and install hardware components
  • Proficient in terminating and testing coaxial and data cables
  • Experience with radio troubleshooting equipment
  • Comfortable working at heights

Working Environment:

  • This is a safety-sensitive role requiring sound judgment in work execution and safety reporting.
  • Ability to navigate heavy equipment while carrying tools and materials.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Competent driving skills, with experience in winter conditions being an asset.
  • Ability to tow and maneuver double axle trailers.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying seasonal conditions.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Availability for overtime and participation in an on-call rotation.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $40.00-$43.00 per hour
