Position Scope

The Controls Engineer will act as a specialist in automation and assembly, responsible for the design, construction, and execution of control systems and standards for assembly equipment. This role involves leading efforts related to the development and implementation of control systems to meet production demands for new initiatives and product introductions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Direct and manage the planning and execution of control systems and standards for assembly equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications and regulations.
  2. Evaluate and support assembly tooling vendors' proposed designs to guarantee compliance with established specifications and regulations.
  3. Draft specifications for the procurement of materials and equipment, including cost assessments and layout designs.
  4. Contribute to the creation, modification, and testing of products and processes.
  5. Assist in interpreting engineering schematics for production teams.
  6. Support the development, assessment, enhancement, and documentation of manufacturing processes.
  7. Participate in the formulation and execution of process control techniques and protocols.
  8. Help create and review Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans.
  9. Conduct root cause and failure analyses as necessary.
  10. Provide expertise and support in identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues.
  11. Examine products and processes to pinpoint areas for improvement.
  12. Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software effectively.
  13. Generate technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  14. Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
  15. Resolve technical and product-related issues in the manufacturing of goods.
  16. Maintain current engineering knowledge and stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience of 10 years in the controls sector with a focus on hardware and software design.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. In-depth knowledge of Process Flow, Control Plans, PFMEA, Statistical Process Control, and Machine Controls.
  4. Demonstrated comprehension of engineering principles and theories.
  5. Strong understanding of ISO 14001 / TS 16949 standards.
  6. Familiarity with CAD software.
  7. Knowledge of design methodologies, tools, and principles related to the production of technical plans, blueprints, and models.
  8. Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality assurance, costs, and techniques for optimizing manufacturing and distribution.
  9. Ability to analyze data and evaluate results to solve problems and select optimal solutions.
  10. Proficient in creating technical documentation and reports.
  11. Skilled in using common hand tools and power tools.
  12. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and other database functions such as reporting and analysis.
  13. Demonstrated time management and project management capabilities.
  14. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  15. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  16. Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  17. Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
