Contributing to Community Impact

We are in search of a committed and enthusiastic individual to join Toronto Community Housing as a Business Planner. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in research methodologies and statistical analysis to support our mission of enhancing the neighborhoods and lives of Toronto residents.

Reporting to the Manager of Engagement, the Business Planner will play a crucial role in the strategic, operational, and business planning processes of the Resident and Community Services division. This includes developing business plans, policies, and procedures that align with industry best practices. You will assess performance metrics and empirical data to ensure our initiatives are effectively impacting TCHC communities and are in harmony with our corporate values and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Planning

  • Assist in the strategic planning processes of the Division;
  • Coordinate and document efforts to align divisional activities with other corporate divisions;
  • Support the creation of strategic plans;
  • Provide strategic planning insights to the Divisional Leadership Team;
  • Aid divisional teams in reviewing and enhancing business processes and systems;
  • Offer project management expertise and lead various projects;
  • Utilize project management software effectively;
  • Guide other management staff on a project basis.

Relationship Building and Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop and implement consultation processes to support policy changes;
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including tenants and community agencies;
  • Lead working groups and committees;
  • Create communication materials for internal and external audiences;
  • Engage in inter-divisional policy and program development initiatives.

Research, Writing, and Reporting

  • Investigate strategies for enhancing tenant engagement and community development;
  • Lead policy development and evaluation processes, ensuring alignment with management goals;
  • Prepare reports, analyses, and various correspondence for senior management;
  • Conduct ongoing research and analysis related to assigned policy areas;
  • Collaborate with other business units to align strategic outcomes;
  • Develop evaluation frameworks and utilize analytical tools to monitor progress;
  • Analyze performance measurement results and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in social sciences (e.g., Education, Psychology, Sociology, Urban Planning);
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in policy analysis, performance measurement, or research design;
  • Significant experience in strategic policy development and stakeholder management;
  • Familiarity with anti-oppressive frameworks and intersectional equity lenses;
  • Proficient in project management and evaluation methodologies;
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills;
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours.
