Position Overview:
Located in a dynamic environment, the Land Use Planner will work under the guidance of the Planning Manager, engaging in a diverse array of land use planning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be integral to the TULLOCH Engineering team, undertaking the following tasks:
Manage various development projects across northern and central Ontario Guide development proponents through regulatory processes Facilitate Public Consultation sessions and present to Committees of Adjustment or Municipal Councils Draft applications for Consent, Minor Variance, Zoning By-Law Amendments, Official Plan Amendments, and Site Plan Control Prepare Planning Justification Reports and assist in Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) hearings Enhance land value through analytical thinking and thorough policy evaluation Collaborate with municipalities on strategic planning initiatives Conduct Official Plan reviews and municipal needs assessments Engage with professionals, municipalities, and government entities Foster client relationships Utilize AutoCAD and other design software Candidate Profile:
3-5 years of experience in land use planning and development, either in the private sector or municipal government Familiarity with the Provincial Policy Statement, municipal Official Plans, and Zoning or Development Permit By-Laws Preferred full membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI), or eligibility for membership within one year Ability to make informed decisions and exercise independent judgment within established guidelines Adaptability to modify strategies to achieve desired outcomes
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field. Additionally, you should have:
A strong motivation with a focus on results Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities Strong interpersonal and analytical skills Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, including negotiation skills Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) A valid Class G driver's license
