About the Role:

Tulloch Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Land Use Planner to join our team in Sudbury. As a key member of our Planning team, you will be responsible for leading land use planning projects and working closely with development proponents, municipalities, and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the regional office's land use planning daily workload
  • Work on large and small development projects throughout northern and central Ontario
  • Lead development proponents through the Planning Act process
  • Prepare Planning Act applications for Consent, Minor Variance, Zoning By-Law Amendments, Official Plan Amendments, Plan of Subdivision/Condominium, and Site Plan Control
  • Prepare Planning Justification Reports and assist in preparing for Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) hearings
  • Add value to land through critical thinking and rigorous policy analysis
  • Work with municipalities on strategic planning policy projects
  • Build client relations
  • Undertake Official Plan review exercises and municipal needs analyses

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a land use planning and development role
  • Strong knowledge of the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, municipal Official Plans, and Zoning or Development Permit By-Laws
  • Full Membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI)
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise independent judgment within defined parameters
