Position Overview: The Pastry Chef is responsible for consistently delivering high-quality pastry items for daily banquet and a la carte services. This role requires a leader who actively engages in the creative and innovative processes that enhance the culinary team's culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all operations within the pastry kitchen
- Design and implement dessert menus for dining services and banquet events
- Ensure all pastry items meet established quality standards
- Take a proactive role in fostering a successful kitchen environment
- Supervise daily operations and additional responsibilities for all relevant staff
- Guarantee timely and efficient completion of all mis en place
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the pastry area, ensuring proper food storage
- Adhere to provincial health regulations and food handling protocols.
Qualifications:
- A passion for culinary arts and current food trends
- Red Seal certification with 3-5 years of experience as a lead cook in a similar establishment, focusing on pastry
- Strong skills and creativity to elevate food quality and presentation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Capability to train others using established culinary techniques
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to maintaining workplace and food safety standards
- Experience in pastry kitchen inventory management, portion control, and waste reduction
- Flexibility in adapting to the dynamic kitchen environment.
