Position Overview

The Fund Accounting Specialist is tasked with overseeing the financial management and reporting for pooled investment vehicles and individual accounts within our Private Funds and Advisory division. This role encompasses the daily financial operations and reporting for investment portfolios, including stakeholder reporting and analytical assessments.

  • Preparation of Financial Documentation: Generate quarterly working papers for investment vehicles and individual accounts to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and financial statements are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Capital Management: Manage all capital calls and distributions to investors.
  • Accurate Record Keeping: Ensure that advances to project developers are correctly documented and reflected in the financial records.
  • Management Reporting: Develop schedules for management reports and ensure alignment between management reports and financial data.
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare project and fund returns and assist in the valuation and financial reporting processes.
  • Investor Relations: Address investor inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration: Communicate with the Investment Team as necessary regarding new and ongoing investments.
  • Project Assistance: Support special initiatives including system enhancements, investor requests, and the establishment of new entities.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of IFRS, US GAAP, and ASPE accounting standards is essential.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in private equity, fund management, or financial services.
  • Exhibits meticulous attention to detail and maintains high standards for quality of work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities, are crucial.
  • Must be a cooperative team member, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient report querying skills within an integrated General Ledger system and advanced Excel capabilities are required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • CPA designation or progress towards obtaining a CPA designation is preferred.
  • Experience in fund accounting is mandatory.
  • 1-2 years of audit experience with real estate and asset management firms, or experience in alternative investment fund administration is required.
