Role Summary:

This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of products, while collaborating with supervisors and fellow operations staff in alignment with company protocols and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and practices relevant to the position; engage in necessary safety training; demonstrate commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) principles.
  • Manually operate valves or utilize computer systems for remote valve operations.
  • Verify proper tank configurations for various receipt and delivery tasks; conduct tank gauging and temperature checks; complete necessary documentation.
  • Examine operational orders for discrepancies; confirm appropriate backup, tank selection, and equipment suitability.
  • Facilitate the loading and unloading of rail tank cars, trucks, and vessels as required.
  • Utilize large wrenches to adjust bolts; navigate docks, connect and disconnect hoses; position mechanical load arms or attach product hoses; review and finalize documentation; monitor gauges; adjust flow rates; follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Climb ladders and stairs to manually gauge tanks.
  • Review operational procedures for both new and existing systems; participate in system start-ups; recommend enhancements for performance and safety.
  • Troubleshoot pumps, meters, heating systems, and nitrogen operations.
  • Ensure optimal performance of equipment; report any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Respond swiftly and appropriately to emergencies in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness of truck stations; perform various cleaning tasks as assigned.
  • Complete all required training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and local regulations as well as company safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Regularly train on provincial and local environmental regulations pertinent to the role.
  • Assume delegated supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor with authorization from the Operations Head.
  • Conduct hands-on training for operators as assigned; inform the supervisor of trainee progress; complete training documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Operations Head that align with the expected scope of this position.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma in a relevant field.
  • Completion of college courses in areas related to the industry, such as mechanics, industrial technology, or chemicals.

Requirements:

  • Preferred experience in terminal operations, though not mandatory.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and job guidelines.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with database systems and applications used at the location.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and follow up on assignments.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts as needed.
