Job Title: Clinical Area Director
Job Summary:
The Clinical Area Director will provide strategic medical leadership to Fraser Health's Learning and Research programs. This role will work collaboratively with senior leadership, faculty members, and external partners to develop a vision, co-lead the strategy, and ensure the planning, coordination, integration, operation, and evaluation of Fraser Health's Learning and Research programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic plan for medical research and innovation in collaboration with senior staff, faculty members, and leadership in Fraser Health and external partners.
- Program Development: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, manage, and evaluate programs and services within a complex environment to advance strategic transformation initiatives.
- Medical Education: Integrate medical education as a standard in primary care clinics and networks and provide clear pathways to graduates into internships, residencies, and training for medical student supervisors.
- Research Partnerships: Maintain partnerships with provincial research stakeholders to implement collaborative medical research programs within Fraser Health. Negotiate and evaluate medical research collaboration agreements with post-secondary institutes and academic institutions.
- Grant Acquisition: Develop and manage the fiscal resources necessary to develop an infrastructure conducive to excellence in research.
- Fundraising: Collaborate with Fraser Health Hospital Foundations, University Development Groups, and the community and private sectors to establish fundraising activities and cultivate potential funding sources.
- Medical Research Education: Develop, implement, promote, and evaluate a medical research education program.
- Medical Research Support: Develop, implement, and promote research opportunities and research support for Fraser Health medical investigators.
- Leadership: Provide medical leadership to support the successful implementation of the Fraser Health Research Institute (Health System) and other Fraser Health research and development initiatives.
- Representation: Represent medical investigators and the Medical Research portfolio within Fraser Health.
- Recruitment: Collaborate with Fraser Health Program, Regional and Site Medical Directors, clinical leaders, and university faculty leaders to recruit and retain the best medical researchers and investigators.
- Policy Development: Ensure medical investigators adhere to established Fraser Health research guidelines, policies, and procedures governing research.
- Representation: Represent Fraser Health in local, provincial, and national forums.
- Academic Appointments: Maintain academic appointments to applicable faculty and their post-secondary institution.
Qualifications:
- Eligibility for membership on the Fraser Health Medical Staff.
- Five (5) years leadership experience within the healthcare sector and experience in hospital-based leadership.
- A master's degree in health administration, nursing, business administration, or equivalent experience.
- Additional leadership training.
- Experience with budgetary and operational planning.
