Position Overview
The role of the candidate will be pivotal in broadening Rystad's influence within the oil & gas sector, focusing on establishing new connections primarily with upstream operators and service firms in Canada. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding skills in generating new business opportunities and have a strong background in solution-oriented sales. As a vital member of the sales team, the individual will benefit from the backing of our global client-facing research analysts and product experts.
The primary sectors of engagement will include companies within the Oil & Gas industry, such as Exploration & Production firms, Oilfield Service companies, and midstream/infrastructure organizations. Candidates should demonstrate robust negotiation capabilities, a deep understanding of the global upstream market, and experience in selling services through a consultative approach. The role requires proficiency in product demonstrations and excellent networking skills, particularly at the executive level. National travel will be necessary, with occasional international assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive pipeline of prospective companies.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to create and execute an outreach strategy.
- Deliver presentations about the company, our research, and services through in-person meetings and virtual conferences.
- Identify and understand the unique needs of various client types to formulate effective value propositions.
- Expand brand recognition by networking at industry events.
- Utilize the company's CRM system to manage client interactions.
- Maintain communication with research, sales colleagues, and management regarding activities and outcomes.
- Provide insights and recommendations for product improvements and new offerings.
- Ensure proper onboarding of new clients.
- Engage in activities that align with achieving annual sales targets.
- Conduct basic interactions with external local accounting and legal advisors.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3-7 years of experience in acquiring new clients within the energy sector, market intelligence, or related fields.
- A graduate degree is required; a postgraduate degree is preferred.
- Experience negotiating with procurement and senior management.
- Preferred experience in selling research databases or consulting services.
- Desirable experience in selling subscription-based services.
- Familiarity with pipeline management best practices and new business development techniques.
- Experience in energy-focused data and software sales related to energy supply analysis, modeling, screening, and valuations.
- A self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively while leveraging available resources.
- Ability to create value propositions tailored to specific personas and company types.
- A strong existing network and the capability to build new connections effectively.
- Proficient in standard Office tools and CRM systems.
- Expertise in sales pipeline management and accurate forecasting.
