Heavy Equipment Technician Job Description

Brandt is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in the Elk Valley and surrounding area, reporting to our Cranbrook location. This role involves the repair and maintenance of mining, construction, and forestry-based equipment and attachments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and diagnose the working condition of heavy duty equipment, assemble/disassemble, order parts, and perform repairs efficiently and effectively.
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently, and operate related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems.
  • Accurately document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken.
  • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.
  • Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis, and locate parts using parts catalogues.
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including climbing, overhead lifting/postures, prolonged standing, sensory processing, and fine motor control.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment.
  • Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade.
  • Commitment to customer service and service excellence.
