Job Summary

The Clinical Intake Specialist will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing comprehensive clinical intake services and system navigation support to clients. This role is responsible for building rapport with clients, providing telephone counseling, stabilizing crisis situations, and conducting intake assessments to ensure clients receive the right resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle client requests for services and provide timely responses.
  • Conduct telephonic clinical intake assessments, including risk evaluations, to ensure clients are referred to the appropriate resource.
  • Provide crisis stabilization and immediate telephone counseling support to clients in need.
  • Deliver single-session, brief therapy services to clients contacting the help lines.
  • Schedule clients for face-to-face appointments with counselors or refer them to clinical affiliates and community resources.
  • Educate clients about services, eligibility requirements, and referral processes.
  • Manage enrollment and intake assessment documentation within the database.
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality assurance initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Intake Department.
  • Manage details effectively, including data input into databases, proficiency with Excel and Word.
  • Collaborate in service planning, developing goals within a brief therapy solution-focused approach using the Partners for Change Outcomes Management System (PCOMS).

Requirements

  • Significant understanding of mental health and substance misuse.
  • Ability to assess high-risk situations and engage in risk assessment, safety planning, and referral as necessary.
  • Superior knowledge of community resources and ability to assist clients in accessing, utilizing, and benefiting from those resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage professional clinical records.
  • Proficiency in communication and team-building.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a professional team.
  • Ability to maintain community relationships.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.
  • A member in good standing with a professional governing body.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience with demonstrated knowledge and professional practice skills in frontline services, including crisis intervention, case management, or counseling. Administrative or program development experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
  • Familiarity with efficient administrative practices.
