Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement individual and group activities that enhance gross motor skills and physical development across various competency levels.
  • Evaluate students' physical skills, including body positioning and movement techniques.
  • Modify curricula to accommodate students with disabilities or varying physical abilities, ensuring an inclusive experience.
  • Utilize technology and optimize educational applications to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
  • Oversee students during high-risk activities, ensuring a safe environment in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization, initiating discussions and meetings to promote cooperative engagement in children's care.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor's Degree
  • Background in kinesiology is advantageous
  • Alberta Child Care Certification Level 2 or higher
  • Current First Aid Certification (can be obtained upon hiring)
  • Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months
  • Understanding of children's gross motor skills and their application in games and activities
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable attitude with a passion for working with children
  • Interest in physical activity and experience in sports or fitness
  • Ability to manage and engage with large groups of children
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Physical capability to lift up to 40 lbs, particularly when working with infants and toddlers.
