The Head of Cybersecurity Strategy will be instrumental in fostering a security-centric culture while enabling development teams to maintain agility and speed. This role encompasses the establishment, enhancement, and oversight of a security management framework that governs enterprise-wide information security initiatives, serving as a vital link to various stakeholder departments. Key responsibilities include the enhancement, execution, and administration of enterprise information security services, cyber resilience, governance, and risk management.

The ideal candidate will lead a team focused on delivering security services that prioritize network and endpoint security, identity access management, vulnerability management, and security tooling for CI/CD pipelines, while implementing DevSecOps methodologies. Collaboration with the parent organization to align security policies and procedures will also be a critical aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage security processes, ensuring successful compliance with audits (SOC2, PCI, HIPAA) and enhancing developer productivity metrics.
  • Streamline tooling and manage access controls to minimize costs, complexity, and risk.
  • Develop a long-term vision (2+ years) and provide thought leadership for the security organization in collaboration with Corporate IT, Compliance, and Risk teams.
  • Refine security team roles and establish career development pathways.
  • Define and enhance the security incident management process.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize security across all operations, including educational initiatives.
  • Engage in hands-on configuration of security tools, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Identify vulnerabilities in Wave's security posture and devise solutions to mitigate potential threats.
  • Conduct security assessments for new technologies and vendor risk evaluations to support informed business decisions.
  • Perform threat and risk analyses of cloud-based systems, applications, and supply chains.
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, gathering technical and forensic evidence.
  • Lead compliance activities, including regular reviews and audits.
  • Mentor and develop a team of Security Engineers.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in designing and implementing enterprise information security strategies and programs.
  • At least 5 years of relevant leadership experience in a Cloud/SaaS Infrastructure environment (e.g., AWS).
  • Proven experience managing or leading a technical team.
  • Demonstrated expertise in various information security disciplines (operations, engineering, incident response, application security, etc.).
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as SOC, PCI, HIPAA, SOX, PIPEDA.
  • Proficiency in a common scripting language (e.g., Python).
  • Experience in SaaS and/or FinTech sectors is highly desirable.
